What do you think the biggest benefits of Modular Blocks are? Is there any situation you could foresee where it may not be best to use Modular Blocks?

The biggest benefit is giving content editors flexibility to create appealing pages without having to get devs involved.

Modular Blocks allow us to define an acceptable set of components for any given page. We can give our authors a "skeleton" of a page, while giving them the greatest flexibility in laying out the page. It allows content authors to reorder the page's components any way that they see fit, without the need of additional coding on the developer's side.

It’s the flexibility of allowing the content editor to organize the content on the page as they see fit, without having to have multiple ‘page types’ that are strongly controlled through code only. In the past you would have multiple page templates, one for almost each content type; now you can have a true ‘lego’ or ‘building blocks’ approach to creation of the pages for the website.

Being able to develop design systems without developer involvement

I think the benefits of modular blocks become more apparent the more they’re used, as time is saved between content creators & developers when creating & maintaining schemas for content.

Defining an expected ontology and taxonomy while providing the content editor with flexibility and agency over aspects of the design are certainly benefits. However, without care, this could leak elements of the design into the content repository itself. For instance, if components (of any type) are used to model a specific design metaphor (columns, for example) and the design later changes, this will likely become problematic. The goal of content modeling should be to create an abstraction from the designs, not to simply replicate them in the CMS.

Modular blocks are an easy way to provide flexibility for editors yet reducing complexity for developers.

Especially in combination with global fields (and depending on the requirement), modular blocks make a huge part of the content model reusable and therefore easier to maintain, extend, migrate,… and also providing a uniform editor experience.

The biggest advantage of modular blocks is their flexibility. They allow editors to arrange the content of a website as they wish, rather than following a fixed website structure.

The modular blocks provide a good way to order the website content and it si very easy of achieve by the editors.

I think the best in modular blocks is that they are flexible and reusable across content types. They make it possible for the content team to add certain predefined reusable components to pages or within rich content such as blog posts, banners etc. I’d think this takes a lot of planning and, in a truly high quality/well designed website, shouldn’t be overused lest you end up breaking a site’s design or user experience.

I think the biggest advantage of modular blocks is, we can have dedicated component for each block in codebase. CMS content creator have the freedom to order these block, add or remove it and design the page.

But they have to make sure the page is alligned with the designs provide by design team, so that in future shffling of blocks will not break the page.

Modular blocks can be considered as a kind of custom content type which allows the developer to create a content type by combing multiple content types and can be easily re-used, re-order etc. very easily.

without a doubt flexibility. being able to add content however you need to, then change, rearrange everything as needed, update photos, text etc, without disrupting the rest of the page or other pages allows for fast quick deliverables in targeted pages or site wide.

The reuse of modular blocks provided the possibility of A/B testing the structures easily because basically content authors can change the cadence of content by doing drag&drop instead of manually creating different blocks. Based on the testing results the client can also apply the best practices to many other webpages.

The central management of modular blocks also helps with alleviating manual effort to update each block.

Modular blocks allows for the increased velocity from content generation to publishing. If users can just drop the content into the blocks they don’t have to spend time updating each page or template.

Modular Blocks allow Content Authors to handle content entry and organize content sections much easier. We use them a lot. The downside is that you could only have a max of 10 fields added to a Modular Block, hopefully the limit can be increased in the future.

Modular blocks are the ideal flexibility solution that gives editors multiple ways of presenting content, or different types of content.

This method is even more advantageous since it is relatively easy to use to add a new type of block without modifying the others already created.

Helps accelerate the content presentation. However, it is ideal to understand the limitations before architecting them. (Click here)

Probably echoing a lot of replies here - but I think the biggest benefit of modular blocks includes the flexibility of being able to rearrange content but still have a level of control over what that content is. It’s so much easier to manage when the content can just be moved as needed rather than building template upon template just to move a paragraph here or there.

Modular blocks make development much easier and faster. They also make filling content easier and more flexible.

Flexibility and reusability from modular blocks provide easier and faster content creation

Modular Blocks allows unexperienced editors to build website designs based on existing components, which is the biggest advantage in my point of view.

The fact that business analysts will have the freedom to reorganize content with Modular Blocks is great but some pages should be locked from using Module Blocks if it should not change based on modifications somewhere else.

The biggest benefit of modular block is flexibility. Rather being fixed page, non developer can also arrange the blocks from content stack itself and best part is no coadding skill are required for that.

Modular blocks are a simple technique to give editors flexibility while easing development complexity.
Modular blocks, especially when combined with global fields, make a significant portion of the content model reusable, making it simpler to manage, extend, migrate, and offer a consistent editor experience.
